Bongiovanni: Arneis Langhe DOC
ARNEIS: From the ancient native grape by the same name. Guyot-trained vines cover a little under 2.5 acres (1 hectare) and are 15 years old on average, planted with a density of 1,620 per acre (4,000 per hectare). Fermentation is sur lie, at 17-18° C (62.6-64.4 degrees Fahrenheit), conducive to smooth flavors and perfectly integrated acidity. The wine is bottled in March. In the glass, it shows an elegant, floral bouquet with intense notes of pears, balanced freshness, great versatility with food.
Bongiovanni: Dolcetto D’Alba DOC
From a minuscule crop of 1.2 tons per acre, classically vinified, unfiltered, this ruby gem is deep purple in color, intensely fruity and full, complex, rich, juicy and extracted on the palate.
Bongiovanni: Barbera d’Alba DOC
From clayey soil and densely planted (1,620 per acre), low Guyot-trained, 10-year-old vines covering 1.9 acres, this 100% varietal is barrique-fermented (with malolactic and bâtonnage) and barrique-aged for 12 months previous to a further 6 months in stainless steel before release (bottling takes place the summer of the second year, unfiltered). Beautifully structured, cellar-worthy and at the same time extremely mellow, round and food-friendly, shows delightful cherry fruit, well integrated with subtle notes of vanilla from the barriques in French oak.
Bongiovanni: Rosso delle Langhe “Faletto” DOC+
This is the estate’s only blend – a secret one! – and follows a formula that varies each year, as Davide orchestrates a given vintage’s subtle variations and harmonies. In Davide’s own words, “Varieties and relative percentages vary each year, with the sole purpose of crafting a wine that is as well balanced, appealing and distinctive as possible. I can tell you the blend comprises both native and international grapes.” We set down a working formula of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Barbera, 20% Nebbiolo… However, this is no more than a conventional approximation or educated guess!
Bongiovanni: Barolo DOCG
This modern-style Barolo displays a remarkable purity of flavors - wild raspberry, cassis, currant and dried herbs - and a seductive, lingering finish. From a 1.6-ton-per-acre crop yield, it is aged 50% in new Allier oak barriques for approximately 18 months, then in larger oak barrels for the remainder of mandatory Elevage, achieving that ideal balance of components and soft, approachable dimension, particularly suited to the international market and the restaurant trade.
Bongiovanni: Barolo “Pernanno” DOCG
From select Nebbiolo fruit of one particular plot within the estate’s finest vineyard. The grapes are left on the vines for several extra days after the regular Barolo is harvested, for even greater concentration. A gorgeously structured, velvety cru with the succulent fragrance of berries, fumé, leather, cassis, mint…

Bollini: Charonnay Trentino “Barricato 40” DOC (with Stelvin screw cap)

Bollini: Pinot Grigio Trentino DOC (with Stelvin screw cap)
Unique microclimate and morainic, alluvial soil endow this varietal with intrinsic traits seldom achieved: pear, flinty and mineral notes, creamy texture. For further complexity and depth, the wine is vinified on the lees.
Bollini: Pinot Grigio Grave del Friuli Reserve Selection
This unfiltered varietal (Pinot Nero to Italians), from high, southeasterly exposed vineyards, is fermented in stainless steel & conducts malolactic fermentation in French barriques, where it also ages for 15-18 months. Medium body, sweet tannins, elegant harmony all come together with typical spice and wild cherry flavors.
Bollini: Merlot Trentino DOC (with Stelvin screw cap)
Ideal exposure and soil components yield fleshy, fragrant flavors of wild berries, integrated with subtle spice and a mellow, medium body. After fermentation and malolactic, 70% of the wine is drawn off and aged in French and American oak barrels of 225 to 2000 liters, for 12-15 months.
Bellini: N.V. Bellini-Cocktail of Prosecco, white peaches & raspberry juice
A new and exciting chapter in the world’s love story with Bellini was written in the spring of 2003, when “Bellini by Riedel” was born. What is Bellini by Riedel? It is the result of an in-depth workshop at the home of Austria’s master glassmakers, conducted by Georg Riedel with the Canellas, and aimed at tasting Bellini in the best way possible – that is, in the most appropriate glass. Riedel and Canella unanimously chose the winner: an elegant crystal flûte whose distinctive shape indicates the exact pouring level (see photo below, left) and then closes in on itself, thus concentrating all the aromas of Bellini’s bouquet to the utmost – from the fragrance of Canella Prosecco to that of the blend’s rare, perfectly ripe white peaches. An added bonus to Bellini is its lightness and versatility: the low alcohol content and calorie count, amazing balance of scented fruit, soft texture and zesty acidity, make it an ideal apéritif or ‘anytime’ refreshment.
Bellini: N.V. Rossini - Cocktail of Prosecco & Strawberries
Opera lovers will find much of the Romantic composer’s joyful sparkle and liveliness in this Italian classic of the 1960s. A blend of Italian spumante – again, Canella Prosecco – and the pulp and juice of fresh strawberries, Rossini, like Bellini, is characterized by low alcohol content and calorie count, amazing balance of scented fruit, soft texture and zesty acidity, versatility as aperitif or ‘anytime’ refreshment… Also like Bellini, it is best refrigerated, then chilled for 15 minutes in the freezer just before serving in Riedel’s unique designer glass.
Bollini: Pinot Grigio Grave del Friuli Reserve Selection DOC
Millions of years ago, glacial melting caused rivers to flow from the Alps down to the Adriatic Sea, depositing mineral-rich stones (“grave”) that gave their name to the region. This rocky soil – sheltered from the northern winds by mountains, and warmed by gentle breezes from the nearby sea – nurtures the 100% Pinot Grigio of Vigna Trasassi (“vineyard among stones”), endowing it with minerality, complexity and structure. From small crops of highly concentrated fruit, laden with pear, spice and character in a creamy, lush style. Ages well for several years.

Boscarelli: De Ferrari IGT (100% Sangiovese)
Sangiovese’s plum and berry fruit shine through in this youthful yet elegant offering that willingly shuns oak to capture the grape’s chewy, round and silky essence, its fresh, floral aromas: Sangiovese’s spontaneous combustion with a unique terroir!
Boscarelli: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
The blend is approx. 80% Sangiovese, 7% Canaiolo (one of Tuscany’s classic complements to the former), 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot; élevage in oak is 24 months, partly in barrel, partly in barriques and tonneaux. The resulting Nobile is structured, complex, extremely cellar-worthy.
Boscarelli: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva (in wooden case)
The Riserva version is 90% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile clone) and 10% Merlot, from 6 to 35-year-old vines planted with a density of 2,500 vines per acre (6,000 per hectare). After its malolactic, the Riserva ages 24 to 30 months in barrels of Allier and Slavonian oak, varying in capacity from 5 to 35 hl. Ruby red with garnet hues, the bouquet recalls plums and blueberries evolving to violets and iris, elegantly confirmed on the fruity, structured, rich, ripe, complex palate…
Boscarelli: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano “Vigna del Nocio” (wooden case)
(NOCIO DEI BOSCARELLI for short): From 80% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo, 15% Merlot grown in the Nocio vineyard, planted in 1972. This cru owes its name to the presence of a large, ancient nut tree (“nocio”), and its soil (covering 3.2 hectares, i.e. a little under 8 acres) is alluvial in origin, sandy/calcareous, with a pretty high percentage of silt and clay. After malolactic fermentation, Vigna del Nocio ages 18 to 24 months in 5 and 10-hl. barrels of French (Allier) and Slavonian oak, followed by another 3 to 6 months’ bottle age. This single-vineyard selection is a landmark wine for the appellation, a Nobile of enormous concentration, glycerin & volume. The new oak is well integrated into the ripe, sweet fruit & layered complexity; cellar life is a good 10-15 years.
Boscarelli: “Boscarelli” IGT (100% Merlot, wooden case)
This wine comes from select Merlot and Carmenère grapes of Boscarelli’s finest vineyard at Cervognano, and is released solely in exceptional vintages. The minor percentage of the Médoc’s sturdy Carmenère (somewhat similar to Cabernet Franc) is a novelty, from the 2003 vintage.
Bucci: Verdicchio Classico dei Castelli di Jesi DOC
100% Verdicchio varietal; amply layered bouquet, reminiscent of vanilla, butterscotch, almonds and nuts. Mimosa and ripe Golden Delicious apples continue on the palate. Sojourns approx. 4 months in oak before bottling.
Bucci: Verdicchio Classico Riserva “Villa Bucci” DOC
NOTE: VILLA BUCCI 2001 WAS NAMED WHITE WINE OF THE YEAR 2005 BY GAMBERO ROSSO VERDICCHIO CLASSICO RISERVA “VILLA BUCCI” DOC: 100% varietal, from the oldest (40 years old) and best exposed vineyards, only produced in the finest vintages. Undergoes 1½ to 2 years in Slavonian oak (50 and 75 hl.), then at least 1 year in the bottle previous to release. Intense, complex, persistent bouquet of apricot compote and spice; full body, exceptional, layered richness. A white wine with many of the characteristics of a fine red! Its serving temperature, therefore, must not be excessively cool, especially for older vintages (best at 15/18° C), and the bottle should be uncorked at least half an hour beforehand. This is because its lengthy élevage turns the wine’s primary aromas (grapes, flowers) into secondary and tertiary ones – spice, aromatic herbs, flinty and mineral notes, honey, nuts etc. – that need to breathe at the proper temperature.
Bucci: Rosso Piceno “Pongelli” DOC
A top-of-the-line Rosso Piceno, from a blend of old-vine Montepulciano and Sangiovese (70% + 30%), issued solely in the finest vintages and aged 1 year in oak (25-hl. and 40-hl. barrels), 6 months in bottle.
